Competition

The rowing competition will consist of a single regatta with equal events for both men and women. World OutGames 2017 will offer the following events:
• 1 x (Single Sculls)
• 2 x (Double Sculls)
• 4 + (Coxed 4)
• 8 + (Coxed 8)

Races will be held for men and women. 
The rowing categories offered will be Masters and Open events.
The category of a crew shall be determined by the average age of rowers in the crew, rounded down to the nearest whole number. An age handicap system will be implemented in any flight where more than one age class of rowers is competing. All boats will be classified according to the average age of all the rowers in the boat for handicap purposes. Any entrant failing to indicate a birth date on the entry form will be entered as an 18-year-old competitor.

Rules

This is a USRowing Sanctioned Regatta. All competitors must be, at minimum, a USRowing “Basic Member”. US Citizens - $7.75. Foreign Nationals – Free. Sign up during the Regatta Central registration process.
All participant must register with World Outgames Miami before entries will be acceptable.
All Entrees must be submitted by an organization currently registered with USRowing. Foreign organizations must be current members of their country's National Governing Body (NGB). Contact the Regatta Director (pmokha@yahoo.com) if you are not affiliated with a club/team.  
 

RACING RULES

  • USRowing “Rules of Racing” will apply
  • If you wish to race in a lower age group, you waive your right to a handicapped time.
  • Racing will be 1000m and done in a 4 lane format with an emergency 5th lane available.
  • Competitors are limited to (2) events per day.
  • There will be NO rigging changes permitted to rented boats or oars as they will be shared with other competitors/clubs. ONLY foot stretchers and oarlock heights (with removable spacers) may be adjusted.
  • A Masters Event with 4 or more entries will have its own age category final with no handicaps.
  • If there are less than 4 entries in an age category it is at the discretion of the Regatta Director to combine it with another age category event. USRowing time handicaps will apply. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers of the combined event.
  • The Regatta Director will work to accommodate as many competitors as possible who enter multiple events. Understand that the final race schedule may have some race-time conflicts. Please consider the published schedule when submitting entries. Competitors will be notified if this occurs and asked to change or prioritize their entries.
  • Crews will " beach launch" (no docks) their boats. Water shoes are recommended.

 

Waivers: All competitors must complete the On-Line USRowing waiver by April 14. This should be done through the USRowing membership process or on our Waiver link.

 

Scratch Policy: An entry can be scratched up until the registration deadline, no refunds will be given. Substitutions among the same boat class may be permitted if space permits.

 

RACE SCHEDULE: The schedule will be finalized after the entry deadline to best accommodate competitors in multiple events and equipment usage.

 

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

  • The Regatta will have a limited number of boats and oars to rent. All rental equipment will be shared amongst the competitors based on the race schedule.
  • We STRONGLY encourage US teams to bring their own boats and for all rowers to bring their own oars.

 

RENTAL FEES: The “Entry Fee” charged during the entry process on Regatta Central IS your Boat Rental Fee for that event. Fees include; boat and oars for that specific event only. Rental fees also include the Practice day (Wednesday, May 31. 7:30am-1pm)

  • If you are brining your own equipment, please contact the Regatta Director so your rental fees can be waived.
