The Miami Design Preservation League http://www.mdpl.org was co-founded by Leonard Horowitz, a gay man, who transformed Miami Beach with his color palette. While Horowitz is the most well-known historical figure, many men and women in the local lesbian and gay community, were also early supporters of historic preservation.
During May and June, in partnership with World OutGames, the Art Deco Museum at the Art Deco Welcome Center, will feature the work of local LGBTQI artists whose work is influenced by the flora, fauna and built environment of Miami Beach.
The exhibit will include Leonard Horowitz’s original palette that famously defined the historic Art Deco colors of Ocean Drive, Miami Beach.
